Developed by the Koucky brothers at Ceska Zbrojovka in 1975, the CZ-75 pistol after which the Ranger 75 is patterned is a double action short recoil handgun renowned for its reliable action, comfortable grip, well-placed controls, and accuracy. It is also one of the first 'wonder nines': high capacity double action 9x19mm handguns that replaced the then ubiquitous .38 special service revolver as the primary sidearm of law enforcement officers throughout the world. Colonel Jeff Cooper, handgun expert and lifelong proponent of the 1911A1, called this design "the best double action autoloader available."

The Ranger 75 is an excellent choice for novice and expert alike. It features forged (not cast) steel construction, chrome-lined barrel, and a safety catch which doubles as a decocking lever. Like its Czechoslovakian counterpart, the Ranger 75's slide rails are on the inside rather than the outside of the frame, a system said to increase accuracy and smooth operation.
